Since Ladakh is a part of strategically important Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian military maintains a strong presence in the region. The largest town in Ladakh is Leh, followed by Kargil.
Ladakh, the Land of beauty, adventure and spiritualism, wins hearts with its simplicity and blessed with natural beauty. Spectacular landscapes, enfolded by mountains, give the region its unique character. Largely influenced by Buddhism, Ladakh is home to numerous ornate monasteries. Almost half of Ladakhis are Shia Muslims and the rest are mostly Tibetan Buddhists.
Ladakh is a destination, which is gaining immense popularity worldwide. Ladakh tour packages are opportunities that would take you to see a world, so serene and picture-perfect, that it would seem like a dreamland.

The desert type of climate is typical of Leh Ladakh with dry winds blowing throughout the day and summers being hot and humid. On your visit to Leh, you will face the cold desert climate, especially from October to March. In winters the temperatures are extreme in Leh, dipping below freezing point.
Most highways open up the last week of April or the first week of May. May is when the action starts. The weather clears up and one can enjoy their Ladakh sojourn “sunny side up”. Temperatures are a pleasant 16°C during the day and a barely manageable 3°C in the night.
